A few days ago while driving home along the upper Kern River Geneva and I were caught off guard when a young bobcat ran right across the road in front of us, luckily I was paying attention and slowed down enough to avoid hitting the little guy.
We immediately pulled over and I jumped out to see if I could get a glimpse of the bobcat. When I walked down a short embankment towards the river I spotted the little guy curiously checking me out from behind some branches. At this point I realized I had left my real camera gear in the car and all I had was my IPhone, ahhhh!
Knowing how elusive bobcats usually are I assumed by the time I got back with my camera gear the animal would be gone. To my surprise when I returned the bobcat actually moved closer to me and seemed to relax while I took photos. Over the years I have seen a handful of bobcat sightings while out in the field exploring, but never this up close and personal.
