First Ascent – Dessert Eagle

Mark Krebs at the age of 65 is still at it, exploring and developing new routes while also sharing his expertise with the next generation of climbers. Bald Eagle is an awesome climbing area located just a short distance from Lake Isabella, California and was originally developed by Herb Laeger and his wife Eve back in 1994. Only a few other climbers: Krebs, Chris Brewer, and Vaino Kodas have contributed to the development of Bald Eagle over the years.  It is hard to believe that an area with such quality granite, epic views, and around 100 routes available, that no one really climbs here or knows about it.

The most recent route addition to Bald Eagle is a first ascent put up by Mark Krebs with the help of Dave Daley. Dubbed “Dessert Eagle,” the climb goes at a 10b difficulty level and requires trad gear for the lead. Congrats Marco on your send! There is still so much unexplored rock up at Bald Eagle and I am sure we will be getting out there again soon!
